ok SO i've seen a few people who use sai find it really tedious to have that neat only-outer-lines-black with only-inner-lines-colored style

here's an example:

sunnie ref by rythiian

so,, i discovered a REALLY easy way to do this a while ago and bc i Love yall im gonna share it

i dont have time to make an image tutorial but heres how u do it 100% automatically !

  • select the wand
  • select all background or "outer" areas outside of the main drawing
  • go to "selection" and click "increment" and repeat until the blue selection area is covering the outer outlines.
  • go to the "selection" tab and click "invert"
  • check "preserve opacity" on the outline layer in paint effects
  • select bucket tool
  • set it to "transparency (strict)" and transparency difference to 255
  • click anywhere inside the drawing with the color you want the innermost outlines to be
and then due to having not selected the borders of the drawing, you'll only fill the inner outlines, living the outer outlines their original color

its a LOT easier than doing it manually !! i hope this little tut helped out some of u

you can also use this technique to color your lineart in !
